Welcome!

This is my place to share my creative bits and pieces. My art has no rules, no limits and absolutely no order. My projects change with my moods but for the last few years, my main focus has been paper art. Cards, collage, mixed media and as many techniques as I can get to. My inspiration comes from everywhere.

I hope you enjoy your visit.

HEALTH- IRISH BLESSING CARD

I was in a mood to make a challenge card today- so I did! I've been wanting to use a new e-cut file from Quietfire Design as well. It's HERE. It means 'health'. It goes with the sentiment, but is meant more as a toast before drinking.  :) I was impressed with how nicely it cut, being so small.

I've chosen these challenges:

                                                             CASE THIS SKETCH #67

Please take a look at these challenges. There are so many inspiring creations at each of them.

Thank you for stopping by my blog today!

COLOUR Q DEJA VU

Once again, a fabulous colour combo from Colour Q!
If you think you've seen something like this before on my blog, you'd be right. I liked the design and technique so much I decided to use it again. I added a bit of paper piercing to this one. The beautiful flourish and the sentiment are from Quietfire Design.

I hope you have a fantastic day and thank you for stopping by!

COLOUR Q #162 & QF TAG ORNAMENT

Colour Q time again and the colour palette never disappoints. For some reason, I decided to layer-lots. The opposite of the one layer cards I've been doing lately. :)
That's really all there is to this card- layers. The stamp is another Quietfire Design beauty from the Bookmarks collection. The card stock is all Stampin' Up! and the dies used are Spellbinders which I bought from Quietfire Design.
While sorting through some boxes, I came across this tag/ornament that I made a couple years ago. Another combination of Quietfire Design stamp and SU! product. I think the flourish is a Magenta stamp. Don't you just love the "oh Santa...."?

Thanks for looking today. I appreciate you stopping by.
Have a fantastic day and flex some creative muscle.

COLOUR Q TIME BABY!

It's been awhile since I played at Colour Q so tonight was the night. :)
One of my lovely nieces recently had her second baby and I need a card. Lots of faux stitching, sponging and shadow stamping make up the techniques used, with a few punches and dies for shapes.
Easy peasy but baby cute!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Don't you just love the images and colour combos that Colour Q challenges us with? Imagine my surprise when I found a Bermuda Bay ink pad in my 'retired' ink bin. A happy surprise.
So, today I got 'busy'.
Busy, isn't it? Crazy busy for a fun birthday card!
The sentiment stamp comes from Quietfire Design but I'll share more about that in a new post.

Have an awesome day and pull out the bold and beautiful colours from it.
Thanks for looking.

COLOURS OF SUMMER

Don't these yummy colours remind you of summer? I don't know if it's the bright clothes we wear or the colourful food we eat but summer is yummy with colour! Colour Q never fails to bring a beautiful pallette to the table- this week is no exception.
This is my entry for the challenge. Nothing fancy, just stamping, die-cutting and sponging. Basic card making but bold and bright.

I hope your day is bold and bright and I thank you for stopping by!

COMPUTER TIP & COLOUR Q CHALLENGE

DID YOU KNOW.....?
You can enlarge the content on your screen by holding down the CTRL button while scrolling with your mouse. Try it. It's a tip I will be using a lot.

Here's this weeks Colour Q
Pretty, pretty, pretty!

Here's my card....
I don't think I've ever made a card with absolutely zero stamping on it. It's all paper piecing and die-cuts. The only ink I used was the Brocade Blue because I don't have any more of that card stock and it's retired now.
This is not a card you dash off- it took hours to piece it all together. There are only two layers to it, plus the 'thank you'. All the strips are butted together, the die-cuts are embedded and the
'thank you' is layered on top, being the third layer by itself.

I am dedicating this card to my awesome DH. He likes red, and he's so worth every minute this card took to make. Much more actually.

Thanks for looking today. I hope you are enjoying the weekend.
Play some- it's good for you!

TOMORROW'S TODAY

I almost forgot about my card for the Colour Q challenge this week. So, to make sure I meet the deadline, I'm posting today instead of tomorrow.
Here it is and I know you're thinking you've seen this before. Or one very much like it. You'd be right. I followed the same layout as this card

For my Colour Q card, I applied Crystal Effects to the large flower centers that dried to resemble brads, and dots of Smooch to the small flower centers. Added butterflies, a sentiment that was cut down to eliminate a dotted line and to allow different placement and called it done.

To see more beautiful samples using the colours in the challenge, go here.

Okay, I'm done now, I think :) Two posts in one day- kinda makes up for the days I miss.

Happy Canada Day weekend everyone!

COLOUR Q TIME AGAIN

These are the great colour selections for this week.
Here is my card. No technique other than butting card stock pieces together, taping cross the back of them and embossing.

Have a great weekend!

BRAYER WASH BACKGROUND & COLOUR Q 138

These shoes! Not for me to wear but I love the colours.

This brayer wash background started with more mustard and then I added a little pool party which of course, gave me green here and there.
This works best on regular card stock (washes out on glossy) is easy and only a little messy. Ink up the brayer and spray it lightly with water. Then roll it across the cardstock. Repeat until the card stock is covered in colour. You can add other colours or keep it all one colour. Stamp over it, emboss it, the possiblilities are there for lots of play time.
Here is the sample tag:
All in blue-love it!

Don't forget to go have a look at the Colour Q entries. Lots of beautiful eye candy.

Have a wonderful weekend!

COLOUR Q-TRY IT AGAIN

Once again, the great colour combo. My second attempt...
Mono embossing is a fun technique layering the same colour on itself, having the embossing break the colour up and give it tons of tactile and visual texture. Butterflies. They have been a popular design element for years and they probably always will be. They're like flowers or geometric shapes, a good 'go to' for designs. The light sheen on the butterflies comes from the crystal effects that I brushed on after  I completed the card.
Here is another look without the shine...
Just a reminder to you- you can click on a picture on any post, for a larger version.

Have a ridiculously amazing day! (read that on Pinterest and I love it)

NATURE'S INSPIRATION

It's very windy and blustery today. Great for drying up snow and wet ground and flying kites! Now you see my inspration for today's card. It's also my entry for Colour Q.
Beautiful spring amd Easter colours. Maybe nature and these colours can inspire you too.

What does inspire you? Care to share?

Have a great day!

COLOUR Q ONCE AGAIN

Tomorrow is the deadline for this week's Colour Q so I got busy this afternoon.
I used the embossing folder as a stamp. I inked up the side I wanted to use with a brayer, placed it over the white cardstock and ran it through the Big Shot. I had to add a few layers of cardstock for shims, to get a good print.
The flowers are die cut from white waffle paper, glued into stacks, crumpled and sponged with dye inks. All easy stuff to do, just takes a bit of time to do it. Worth it I think. :)
Take up the Color Q challenge here.

Then, I had a go with the left-overs and made some tags, or bookmarks.
The opposite end of the folder was used for stamping on these backgrounds.

Thank you for looking!

COLOUR Q & SPLITCOAST

Once again, I wanted to take up the challenge offered by Colour Q. Bold and dramatic colours, aren't they? Edgy even. Deciding how to use them came easy as I wanted to try the challenge at Splitcoast as well, and make a cascade card. Here is my entry....
Not edgy, not terribly bold, but quite girly and a little dramatic. The best part is how easy this card is to make. I followed the tutorial here.
Give it a try!

Thanks for looking!

A SMALL CHANGE

I am much happier with this card. I think it's better than just okay. All I added was more silver glimmer paper, a framed sentiment and some black leaves. Easy fix. Now, I'm happy to submit it to Colour Q.
Don't forget to check out the other entries at Colour Q.
Give it a try!

Happy New Year everyone!

COLOUR Q BABY!

This beautiful angel figurine inspired the colours for this weeks challenge. Gorgeous!
I wanted a little break from Christmas cards and created the card you see above. The card uses the stocking punch to make baby booties. I love that.
It was wonderful to take some time in the work room and make this card too.
I hope you get some creative time in today.
Maybe even take on the Colour Q challenge- you won't be sorry you did.

Have an amazing day!

RICH & VIBRANT COLOUR Q

Wonderful colour choices again at Colour Q- don't know how they do it, but I love it!
 Here's my card.
It uses Faux Designer Paper Technique, a little punching and some ribbon.
These great weekly challenges get me going and I know I'll have at least one card to show you each week  :) That is Plan A anyway.

Haven't joined in the challenge yet? Did you know the website is packed with samples for all the colour challenges? With 109 challenges now, there must be a few that would appeal to you. Go here and see for yourself. Tons of inspiration!

Have an awesome weekend!
