Welcome!

This is my place to share my creative bits and pieces. My art has no rules, no limits and absolutely no order. My projects change with my moods but for the last few years, my main focus has been paper art. Cards, collage, mixed media and as many techniques as I can get to. My inspiration comes from everywhere.

I hope you enjoy your visit.

CAN'T BELIEVE I FORGOT!

Hi! I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer- it's just flying by, isn't it?
In my busy-ness, I forgot to blog this card. I just discovered it while reviewing some photo files :)

This fun-to-make card has washi tape, close together to create designer paper. Then, some holes were cut out, some butterflies were punched and embossed and the card was put together.
Don't you love the happy birthday stamp? It has whimsy and happy all over it! It's one of  a set of seven stamps- all beautiful- and you can get them HERE

This is a design idea I could use again- different washi tapes, maybe squares instead of circles, another greeting. We'll see. :)

Thanks for stopping by today, and I hope you're having a terrific summer!

THIRTY GRAFFITI

Hi! Just a quick post today, sharing a card I made for my youngest son. It's going postal today.
I drew the THIRTY GRAFFITI with a black Sharpie onto white cardstock, getting the best contrast I could. Then, I sent it to my Silhouette Cameo and cut it out.
I layered it over a piece of paper that was gelli printed on. Love that gelli plate!
I partially embossed the green mat, then glued it all together.

My biggest problem in all this, is figuring out how my youngest child is now a 30 year old man. How the heck did that happen?! In my mind, I'M 30   :)

Have a wonderful day, and thanks for looking!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DH!

DH had a birthday this week.
I pulled out my alcohol inks, some foil tape and glossy cardstock. I attached the tape to one side of the glossy cardstock and embossed the piece with my retro folder. Then, I applied the alcohol inks to the whole surface. It dries very quick. I swirled around some gold wax and it just hit the high points on the embossing.

I added a strip with gold embossed happy birthday, then added some brick embossed circles.
I enjoyed working with some different supplies - do you get in a rut like me and almost forget you have other media?

I hope you are having an extraordinary day and thank you for looking!

CUPCAKES & COLOUR Q

This card makes me happy.
The challenge at Colour Q combines these cheerful colours.

The cupcakes and Happy Birthday are a set from Quietfire Design and it has one more stamp that says 'Let them eat cupcakes'. The pretty ribbon came from there too.

I've been busy sorting and cleaning in the craftroom lately, and have a lot more to do. I look forward to the creative breaks to share here with you.
Thank you for looking!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Don't you just love the images and colour combos that Colour Q challenges us with? Imagine my surprise when I found a Bermuda Bay ink pad in my 'retired' ink bin. A happy surprise.
So, today I got 'busy'.
Busy, isn't it? Crazy busy for a fun birthday card!
The sentiment stamp comes from Quietfire Design but I'll share more about that in a new post.

Have an awesome day and pull out the bold and beautiful colours from it.
Thanks for looking.

BIRTHDAY CARDS

I recently had the pleasure of celebrating birthdays with friends. These are the cards I made for them.
The line drawing images required lots of marker colouring. The bicycle image was stamped with Stazon, then coloured with the markers. The poppies were embossed with black embossing powder, coloured with markers, then clear embossed. This second embossing thickened the black embossing areas but overall, I don't mind the look.

I like how the cards turned out but more than that, I loved celebrating with friends.

We should do it more often.

Have a wonderful day and I hope you find yourself among friends- often!
Thanks for stopping by blogfriends.

PENNANT BIRTHDAY

Can you tell I love tools? I'm a regular gadget-girl :) I think most of us are. Put a piece of card stock into an embossing folder, over a die or into a punch and presto! Most often, what we get is exactly what we expect but sometime, it's even better.

Like our stamp sets, some tools can sit unused for a time. I'm trying to use more of them these days. I'm also challenging myself to get out the unused stamps and ink them up!

It's a little like spring cleaning, only fun  :)

Have a super day and thanks for looking.

LINES LOVE CURVES

The outside edges of this card had to be straight lines. There are so many different curves inside, it needs the hard lines to contain them! I think I took the design rule of lines loving curves to the absolute max. Some might even say I crossed the line  -ah, sorry, I had to say it :)

Whatever the rule, whatever the outcome, I had fun making the card while thinking about the sweet friend I made it for.

Thanks for looking and happy day to all of you!

COGS FOR A GUY CARD

There is nothing spectacular about this card but it is fun. The cog punch is retired. They are a great shape for a masculine card and the colours are happy. I think it works,

Thanks for looking and have a super day!

29....ALREADY!

Where does the time go? Our eldest son has turned 29. Makes us feel a little old.
He is a very creative, kind and fun-loving guy. Of course, we think he rocks.
We're about to spend a few days with him and his brother (who also rocks) and we couldn't be happier about it. Family time will cancel out any blog time so......
have a great week and I hope to have something for you on the weekend.

Thanks for visiting and also, I want to thank you for the great comments and emails about what you see here. I really appreciate it. And you.

AHOY MATEY!

This was fun to make and would not have been possible without my glue pen. Little dabs of glue here and there worked nicely to hold down the baker's twine. It's difficult to see, but there is a little glitter along the wave tops. The colouring was done using a blender pen and markers.

I hope you get to flex some creative muscle today.
Have a good one!

SECOND ANNIVERSARY @ COLOUR Q

Along with the beautiful colour palette, Colour Q has challenged all players to choose a previous Colour Queen's entry and case it. How fun! So, after what felt like a loooong time, I chose to case #79. You can see it here.  I love this card!
Here is my card for the challenge.
I hope you will go and check these out. So much to see on Colour Q, I know you'll enjoy it.

Thanks for visiting my little space on the web.
Have an amazing day!

THE BLUES AND A PEACOCK FEATHER

Do you like the feather? In real life, it just shimmers and is so beautiful.
My friend Margo is the Queen of 3-D when papercrafting. She builds amazing cards and ATC's and we just love her work. She knows I love blue and bling so she knew I'd love this card too.

This is the last of the birthday cards I'll be sharing.  Thank you my friends Cindy, Yvonne, Jutta and Margo for allowing me to share on my blog. You ladies rock!

Have a great weekend everyone and thanks for looking!

She added vellum with gold embossing which adds to the card without taking away from the photo.Beautiful!

A CARD & A COMMENT

Her birthday was a week ago so I can show you the card I made for my good friend M. Some tearing, embossing, watercolouring then add some ribbon and bling. Hand delivered to keep it safe and it was a happy birthday.

I wanted to share this little "find" with you. Sometimes, a little thing can make you smile when you least expect it. This is just such a thing......
....are you smiling? I think it's great advice too-
BE AWESOME
...love it!

BIRTHDAY BOY

Now that he has received it I can show you my son's birthday card. See the "checkerplate"?  ( I think that's what it is called) It's made from a pop can. Cut out and embossed with the Big Shot. Great look!

It's the weekend. I hope you have lots of creative play time and lots of R&R. For some of us, that would be the same thing  :)
Thank you for coming by.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BIRDY

Just some stamping and a bit of dry embossing but I really like that bird image. Is it because we have snow everywhere and it reminds me of spring? Maybe. I just know I really like the look of him. This card is nice and flat and would go through the mail without a problem. If I decide to hand deliver, I'll add a nice brown button where the ribbon meets the happy birthday block.
So, what do you think- does the ribbon make this NOT a masculine card? ( Please excuse my mangling of the language ) Or would it still work?

Enjoy your day!

STAMP SCRAPS

This quick little card would be perfect for a young boy but that's not the focus of sharing it with you. See the piece that Happy Birthday is stamped on with a kind of a green camoflage look to it? It was made by stamping with scrap rubber. After you push out the stamps, you're left with odd shaped rubber scraps. I took a couple and trimmed around a bit, then inked them up. Great for backgrounds!
Here's another sample with the same scraps.....
Fun huh?
So look at your rubber scraps. Keep in mind that you can die-cut shapes from the rubber too. I'll show that another day.
Have fun and enjoy your creativity- however you express it!
