Welcome!

This is my place to share my creative bits and pieces. My art has no rules, no limits and absolutely no order. My projects change with my moods but for the last few years, my main focus has been paper art. Cards, collage, mixed media and as many techniques as I can get to. My inspiration comes from everywhere.

I hope you enjoy your visit.

A SMALL CHANGE

I am much happier with this card. I think it's better than just okay. All I added was more silver glimmer paper, a framed sentiment and some black leaves. Easy fix. Now, I'm happy to submit it to Colour Q.
Don't forget to check out the other entries at Colour Q.
Give it a try!

Happy New Year everyone!

LAST COLOUR Q OF 2011

Almost a month without blogging made me more determined to get the last Colour Q challenge included.
I'm still not thrilled with this card- it is okay. I may try again. What I do love is the silver glimmer paper- so much better in real life but not too shabby in a photo. Here's my card-
I was pleased with how the black embossing turned out on the glittery paper surface. To be honest, what bothers me most about this card is the 'be merry' stamping. It should be more left- centered in the white space. I got lazy and didn't take the time to use my stamp-a-ma-jig. I do have an idea for fixing this though. Stay tuned!  :)

COLOUR Q BABY!

This beautiful angel figurine inspired the colours for this weeks challenge. Gorgeous!
I wanted a little break from Christmas cards and created the card you see above. The card uses the stocking punch to make baby booties. I love that.
It was wonderful to take some time in the work room and make this card too.
I hope you get some creative time in today.
Maybe even take on the Colour Q challenge- you won't be sorry you did.

Have an amazing day!

THE STAR

Please note that the Monday Muse Technique Tag session has been cancelled. Look for it again in January.

Before I finished this card, I showed it to my husband. I had been struggling with it, had no desire to abandon it and he knew it. He took a look and told me it needed a star. So, I went back to the table, put a rhinestone on the tree top and showed him again. "Not what I meant" he said. "It needs a star that radiates out." Eep! I don't think I have that. However, Come to Bethlehem stamp set has a star. Done!
This from the guy who claims to NOT be creative-seriously.

Thanks for looking!

ALMOST WHITE ON WHITE

Pure white on white would be without any coloured card stock so this is close.
Again, certain times  of day or weather cause blue tinting on my photos, especially white content. I hope you can see it white, not blue.

Plenty of white outside today...it's really here.
Have a wonderful day- I hope you get creative and let some art out!
 It's good for you.

O CHRISTMAS TREE

Here's a look at one of the cards I've prepared for a card camp this weekend.
Quite traditional colours and theme.
More to share soon.

Have a super day!

CHRISTMAS 2010

Here's a card I missed showing you last year. I found it in my blog photo file, then went through ALL the blog Christmas cards to make sure I had missed it. Did you know there are 38 Christmas cards on my blog?
It's true.

So, here's one more. I hope to get some tags done soon, so I can share them with you.
It's snowing tonight- a little winter-y inspiration.

Have a good night and a wonderful tomorrow.

RICH & VIBRANT COLOUR Q

Wonderful colour choices again at Colour Q- don't know how they do it, but I love it!
 Here's my card.
It uses Faux Designer Paper Technique, a little punching and some ribbon.
These great weekly challenges get me going and I know I'll have at least one card to show you each week  :) That is Plan A anyway.

Haven't joined in the challenge yet? Did you know the website is packed with samples for all the colour challenges? With 109 challenges now, there must be a few that would appeal to you. Go here and see for yourself. Tons of inspiration!

Have an awesome weekend!

12 X 12 EASY PEASY

I only had one sheet of this designer paper but it became the perfect piece to wrap this gift and use on the card. I also put some on the envelope but I didn't show it in the photo.
The thing about using designer paper is you get a nice card, quickly.
I'm pleased with how the card and gift turned out.

The paper I used is from Hot Off the Press and if you've used their paper you know that it is just that- paper, not cardstock. The added bonus is not adding too much bulk or weight to the projects.

Just a quick and easy one for you today.
Hope you have a great day, whatever it is you're doing!
Thanks for stopping by.

COLOUR Q CANDY CORN

These colours definitely bring candy corn and halloween to mind. However, I went in a different direction.
The white areas around my card appear blue in the afternoon light from the window. It really is white.

Have you joined me in a Colour Q challenge yet? You know you want to.

We had a fabulous few days with our sons in Victoria- just what we all needed.

Have a terrific weekend!

29....ALREADY!

Where does the time go? Our eldest son has turned 29. Makes us feel a little old.
He is a very creative, kind and fun-loving guy. Of course, we think he rocks.
We're about to spend a few days with him and his brother (who also rocks) and we couldn't be happier about it. Family time will cancel out any blog time so......
have a great week and I hope to have something for you on the weekend.

Thanks for visiting and also, I want to thank you for the great comments and emails about what you see here. I really appreciate it. And you.

BIRTHDAY MEDALLION

A little bit elegant- perfect for an 82nd birthday.

Have a beautiful day!

MICA SNOW

Look at that amazing shimmer on the snowflake! Mica flakes provide some great sparkle and it goes on so easily. This card uses a glue pen and on others I've used double sided tape, liquid glue and adhesive sheet. Whatever adhesive you have will probably hold the mica flakes.

Hope your day has some sparkle.
Thanks for coming by.

YUMMY COLOURS

Check out the challenge colours today- they're all good enough to eat, or drink. I could drink my limeade while eating my pumpkin pie smothered in razzleberries and follow up with an espresso. :)
Okay, enough of that, here's my card...
This view will help you see the spritzed on white glimmer.

I hope you're tempted to play today. You'll find it all here.

Have a great day, no matter what.

PEWTER POWER

The new pewter embossing powder became my favourite from the very first use. This card made up very quickly because so little is needed to give it punch. A little bling for balance and this card is ready for the mail. The pewter looks lovely on any colour card stock so this design could be changed up easily.

Thanks for looking!

RED, WHITE & BLING

Silver glitter paper takes the place of rhinestones and delivers the bling. To make this card snail mail friendly, use regular double sided tape instead of foam tape under the punched ornament. Flatter card and just as nice. This card would also look great using blue or purple instead of red.

Thanks for looking!

COLOUR Q #106- REALLY, REALLY

Got the colours right this time- wanna see?
Ta-da!
When I see these colours, it's no wonder I love fall so much. Although I do wonder why blue is my favourite colour when I see these....opposites attracting  maybe?  Anyway, the basic gray is the stamped 'thank you' and the faint dots created by stamping off the background stamp. The other colours are more obvious, and I might add- correct this time. (I still like the previous card too)

Have a super day and I hope you are enjoying the colours- and scents, of Fall.

AS YOU CAN SEE, IT'S NOT COLOUR Q #106

Warm and cool colours create great interest. Here's my card....
Looking at it now, I think I may have goofed a colour. Tangerine Tango looks more like Cajun Craze.
OOPS!
I just checked and yes, it's the wrong colour. However, I like this card so I will make a new one for the challenge.  :)

Have a great day and if you pick up the challenge at Colour Q, just pick up the right card stock.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Thank you all for your visits to my blog. I appreciate you.

The leaves were coloured with markers and a blender pen. The "brads" were made by gluing down three punched circles of card stock, then applying Crystal Effects to form the dome. It dries clear to allow the colour to show through for perfectly matching faux brads everytime.

Have a wonderful weekend!

LOVE THIS CHAIR

Isn't it cool? Fun colours too. I was not sure about three neutrals and two colours, but I managed to create a card that works.
I love the lattice die and if you cut the top note die crosswise on itself, you get a perfect frame for the lattice. If you decide to try this, be sure to leave the pieces in the lattice frame until you are ready to glue them into your main frame. It's so much easier to find the perfect fitting piece. They are all slightly different and look best if they are put into the correct space.

Off for a walk.
Thanks for stopping by.

BIRTHDAY BUTTERFLY

My friend Rhonda LOVES butterflies. She is an awesome scrapbooker and butterflies often make their way into beautiful layouts. This girl does amazing wedding albums which she then gives as a gift to the happy couple. How special is that!?
She recently celebrated a birthday and I made her this necklace. There's a bracelet too but I forgot to get a photo before I gave it to her. As to photos- I know, right? I really need to find a nicer way to set up jewelry for photos. I'm thinking of making a display stand. Hmmm-stay tuned.

Have a super sweet day. I am off to play with the Colour Q challenge today. You can too, it's right here

Thanks for your visit.

AHOY MATEY!

This was fun to make and would not have been possible without my glue pen. Little dabs of glue here and there worked nicely to hold down the baker's twine. It's difficult to see, but there is a little glitter along the wave tops. The colouring was done using a blender pen and markers.

I hope you get to flex some creative muscle today.
Have a good one!

SECOND ANNIVERSARY @ COLOUR Q

Along with the beautiful colour palette, Colour Q has challenged all players to choose a previous Colour Queen's entry and case it. How fun! So, after what felt like a loooong time, I chose to case #79. You can see it here.  I love this card!
Here is my card for the challenge.
I hope you will go and check these out. So much to see on Colour Q, I know you'll enjoy it.

Thanks for visiting my little space on the web.
Have an amazing day!

COLOUR Q TIME AGAIN

Look at these amazing colours- they are gorgeous!
Here's my card...
I was able to use the teeny tiny pearls for the small punched flowers. Love bling- even if it's teeny tiny.

Have a great weekend- enjoy that sunshine!

CARD CAMP- LAST TWO

Unlike the first two I showed you, these aren't the traditional colours for Christmas cards. However, they work and bring something different to the card-making experience.

Whatever colours or designs, I hope you enjoy the creating.
I'm off to see the new challenge at ColourQ. You should join me!

TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS

These two cards were the favourites from the weekend card camp. They are also the two using traditional red & green colours. I'll share the other two in days ahead.

Very little stamping on this one. The designer paper does the work.

Chalking and sponging carried the colour and kept it all subtle. In real life, it is a titch brighter.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope your day is fantabulous!

RACING STRIPES

Lines love curves. It is a design rule. 'Nuf said.
And yes- more strips.  :)

CHALLENGE TIME AGAIN

Don't you just love these colours from the ColourQ challenge?

This is my card for it and I'm kind of surprised by it. I really like it but the surprise is the gray base. Seriously, I would usually go with the turquoise or celery base and use gray for the accents. I'm not sure why I did it this way, but I'm sure glad I did!

Please take a minute and check out the other challenge entries. I know you'll like what you see.

Have a fantastic day!

SCRAPS & STRIPS

Again with the scraps? You betcha!  How about strips? We end up with lots of those too.
This is one of my favourite ways to use strips. Fun, easy peasy....you get it.

Oh look, I just gave you a two-fer!
Have a wonderful day!

ALMOST 3-D

The doilies on this card illustrate perfectly how colour can show depth. Light colours look further away and dark colours look closest. The doilies appear to be laying over eachother with the darkest ones on top. This technique works well with any subject or image and is a fun way to make designer paper.

This can be done with the same colour too simply by stamping off and having lighter and darker shades.
Give it a try!

NO STAMPING- JUST SCRAPS

The card I cased this from used buttons where I have used embossed circles. The sentiment is different as well but the layout and colours are a direct c-a-s-e from Teri Anderson's card in Color Inspiration magazine.
I don't think I've ever made a card without stamping on it somewhere. Always a first time.....

c-a-s-e *copy and share everything

Have a marvelous day!
Thanks for looking.

BLUE WITH VELLUM

Blue. My fave. Has been for as long as I can remember.
This card, could easily become a fave as well.

I hope you get a chance to design and create with your favourites very soon.
Enjoy.

TAKING UP THE CHALLENGE- IT'S PLAYTIME!

Another colour challenge at Colour Q. I subbed Wisteria, as that was the closest I could get for Orchid. This card is also the sample for Monday night Hostess Club- we're going back to the scrap bin.
Here is the challenge from Colour Q-

I hope you'll go have a look at all the other creations there. Inspiration and yummy eye candy for cardmakers and scrapbookers.

Hope you can enjoy this beautiful day.
