Welcome!

This is my place to share my creative bits and pieces. My art has no rules, no limits and absolutely no order. My projects change with my moods but for the last few years, my main focus has been paper art. Cards, collage, mixed media and as many techniques as I can get to. My inspiration comes from everywhere.

I hope you enjoy your visit.

Let's POP Some Pastels

Swirling beautiful colours of chalks over Versamark ink.
One of the first techniques I ever learned when I began as a Stampin' Up! demo, just over five years ago. I still like watching the colours 'catch' on the ink. Some techniques never get old.

SIMPLE STRIPES

I love using scraps and keeping it simple. Any colour combo would work with this card.
It is dull and rainy today so maybe some really bright colours would be in order. I just might have to make that my challenge for today. How about you? Wanna play? Get out the brights and create your own sunshine today!

Have a brilliant day, whatever you do.

The Card that Kate Built...

My bud Kate showed up today needing to make a card for a wedding. She had cardstock in hand, knew the stamps she wanted to use and the technique. So an hour later, this card was ready for photographing. I think it's a beaut and she rocks!

Looking forward to our next play date- they're not just for kids you know!

PARADISE

Took a few minutes yesterday and made this card.
I love these colours- calming and clean. Joseph's Coat is a favourite
technique- just Google it then try and take a few minutes to create your own.

Have an awesome day and I hope you can play a little because....
it's so GOOD for you!

Technique Tag Tuesday

Here's a peek at what we did last night.
We had some fun making technique tags. Some were messy, some quick, some - not so much messy OR quick. All of them easy. Thanks for coming out Stampin' Friends.
If you missed it and are curious, this will happen again the last Tuesday in June with new technique tags. I'm planning on 5 tags instead of 8 from now on so we can finish at a decent time. Some people have to get up awfully early for work.

I hope your work can be balanced with some play today.

Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny

This is the closest I will get to a bikini. Isn't this fun? I'm thinking that to be more 'with it' there should be a tattoo somewhere. Yes, I am laughing at myself!
Hope you get a giggle too.

With the sunshine this morning, thoughts of summer came along and then I remembered this card from a few years ago. It's still fun but needs some bling! And maybe I wasn't too far off with that tattoo idea.

Hope you have a day that just overflows with creativity!

BIRD SONG

Every morning I wake up to the sound of bird song. While it's lovely, do you know how early they start?! And there are times when it's bird squawk more than bird song. However, it means it's NOT winter and for that I am grateful.
This card is about burnishing- burnished ink around the stamping and burnishing the metal leaves. All very easy and a nice result.

Enjoy this day- get some play time if you can!

SPRING PAINTING

So just for fun- add a little paint. I made this card many months ago and I liked it.
Lately, I'm looking back over cards and not liking them so much. Do you ever do this?
I still like the paint on the card but I think the green base needs something more. What do you think? If I decide to change this card, I'll share the result.

Create a little every day!

PEEKING THROUGH DIAMONDS

More glitter! Dazzling Diamonds glitter and packing tape- a win-win combination. On the two lower flowers the tape is over white cardstock while on the top flower, the tape creates a window. The stamped image peeks through perfectly.

Enjoy the long weekend- stay safe!

Wrong Season Watercolour

After I uploaded this photo I realized it has a fall colouring to it. Since it was the technique I was interested in, I decided that was okay. The leaves are stamped using a Kaleidacolor ink pad, then a waterbrush pulls ink from the edges into the center of the leaves.
Don't have a Kaleidacolor ink pad? No problem, ink up the stamp using several colours- small ink spots work, markers work, sponging on ink works- just get the ink on there. Try rock n' roll- ink stamp with lighter colour then roll edges of stamp in a darker ink pad.
Play with this- tell me what you discover.
Hope you get some play time today- it is SO good for you!

BIRTHDAY EASEL

Bling! I love glitter so I'm happy when I have a card to make that I can pour on the glitter. This was for my friend Jackie. She, Deana and I share May birthdays so we try to celebrate all together. We did and it was a lot of fun!

This is my friend Deana's card with a little bit of glitter.
I'll be creating cards for a Card Camp on Saturday, but in the interests of time, we won't be making easel cards. While I love them- they are very time consuming. I think I'll save it for a Club meeting or Technique Tuesday.

For the moment, the sun is shining- I hope you have a wonderful day
and thanks for stopping by!

A PANSY FROM BUTTERFLY WINGS....WHAT???

I first saw these done here They are the best I've seen.
So, I had to try this- making pansies from Stampin' Up!'s butterfly punch. I have also seen some adorable sweet pea flowers done with it and they are on my "must do" list.
I made some birthday cards as well but I can't show those until after Sunday.

Have a fantastic weekend! I am off to a one day crop with a couple great friends tomorrow and a fun group birthday dinner is happening on Sunday, so my weekend is set. Try to find some play time- it really is good for you!

SLIP FLOWER

As the title suggests, this flower was made from a slip with the faintest touch of colour sponged on. I'm not sure if my current addiction for these fabric flowers has passed but I do have some different paper ones in the works. You'll see them soon :)

You probably noticed that I've changed the look of this blog again. Very clean and plain this time but I like it. There are so many options that it's hard to resist making frequent changes. I try to avoid designs that make my blog difficult to read- I think that last one I had was awkward, wasn't it?  That being said, I welcome your comments, any time.

Thanks for stopping by!

Double Duty

Why double duty?
This embellishment uses up the odds and ends from collections of brads, flowers, buttons and bling, as well as making a striking addition to your card or page. Easy Peasy! Look at what you have and play with combinations. Add ribbon or cord, chipboard and eyelets. Remember, no rules.
Try and play today...it's good for you!

My Gifts

My guys...and yes, the reason I celebrate Mother's Day.
I can't say enough, how proud I am of these guys. They are absolute blessings to their Dad and me.
Loved hearing their voices yesterday.

And you'd be right in telling me to update the photos :)
Have a great day!

And the winner is...

Kate!
She won the address book I bought in Mexico for the Birthday Giveaway.
Congratulations Kate and a big THANK YOU to all of you that left comments.
That was fun and I'm already thinking about the NEXT one! Stay tuned...

Got some burnin' love going on here!

They are everywhere online it seems! Google 'making singed flowers' and
see what you get- lots! These are fun to make- easy too.
They satisfy on so many levels- they're green, yay for recycling, you can
'play' with fire as you use a candle for some of them, you can watch a
flat circle of fabric transform right before your eyes.

I'm not giving directions for these as there are so many great tutorials already, but I will tell you that a bowl of water close by is a must- anytime you work with an open flame.

Some fabrics will curl nicely with the use of your heat tool- no flame required. Do a test scrap before starting your flower.

Most of the tutorials show the flowers being used for headbands and pins but they are very pretty on cards as well. Just hand deliver them :)
So go back into that box of clothes for the thrift store and pull out some synthetics. I think I'll try some with petal shapes cut into the circles......
Have a great play day!
