SILHOUETTE DECOR

Hi everyone!

I had a fabulous day recently...spent the entire morning in my pj's, with my Silhouette Cameo machine. I have a few projects to share with you.

DH and I both have these thermal go-cups. He bought them from Tim Horton's and we love them- they keep the coffee hot a long time. I like my coffee black, he doesn't, and too often we'd mix up our cups.

Not any more! I blinged mine up with some gold sparkle vinyl from Dollarama, and this perfect cutting file by Quietfire Design at Silhouette Store. I'll have to hand wash my cup now but it's worth it. The 'vinyl' is more like self-adhesive cellophane.

On a roll, I went for my phone........

 I don't expect these designs to last forever but I like to change things up, so it's not an issue.

Then........

my lovely Cameo got a tiny bit of whimsy with this butterfly- you guessed it- Quietfire Design.  :)

SPRING WATERCOLOUR CHALLENGE

 

Hi! Are you craving colour, and warmth? Good to know Spring is officially right around the corner!

Suzanne did up this fantastic e-cut for spring, and you can find it HERE. 

I thought it was perfect for some blotchy type watercolouring. It's fun to watch the colours blend and run into each other. Begin by wetting down the area to be coloured- the spring cut out. Then dab watercolour here and there, repeating until you get the look you like. Add more water to move the colour, and more colour to darken it.

I went all around the edge with a dark green marker, and allowed it to bleed a bit, into the still damp cardstock. The flowers were coloured, stacked and glued to the card base.

HEALTH- IRISH BLESSING CARD

I was in a mood to make a challenge card today- so I did! I've been wanting to use a new e-cut file from Quietfire Design as well. It's HERE. It means 'health'. It goes with the sentiment, but is meant more as a toast before drinking.  :) I was impressed with how nicely it cut, being so small.

CAMEO BUNNY PIN & WATERCOLOUR CARD

 

Hi Everyone! It's a beautiful Friday- very Spring-like.

I promised to show another watercolour card today, and I will. First though, how about a cute little bunny? It WAS for an upcycle challenge, but I missed the deadline. Oops!

 

The round base of this pin, was a clip-on earring. I removed the clip, and covered the dome shape with gelli print paper from my stack. I used Aleene's tacky glue to stick it on with- it won't budge. I also use Weldbond white glue, or Elmers', when I want a strong adhesion.

 

I added some ribbon to the back with red liner tape, attached the pin back with red liner tape, then applied a piece of gelli print paper and glued with Aleene's Tacky glue. I held it all in place for a minute or two, covering with wax paper and using my bone folder to burnish it well.

 

I painted a few lines of watercolour paint on the bunny for definition, painted the carrot, and once dry, I glued them onto the covered earring.

 

The bunny and carrot were cut using a QUIETFIRE DESIGN file from Silhouette America. The diameter of the earring is 1 1/4", so you see how small we can get with our cuts.

I JUST LOVE HIM!

 

Now, onto the card.

Just for fun, this card uses paper towel for it's designer paper.

The watercolour crayon was scribbled onto very wet paper towel, and pushed around with the brush. This card had blue and burgundy WC on the paper towel, then was left to dry. I attached it to white cardstock for stability, as the paper towel separates along the edges once dry, giving you two very thin papers.

White cardstock was dry embossed, then water was brushed on, followed by lots of burgundy WC crayon paint. Just keep brushing it on until you get the depth of colour you want. Once dry, I rubbed gold paint over the high spots, just using my fingertip.

The button you see in the photo was removed and a flourish design was stamped on with gold paint. (clean stamp immediately when stamping with paint)

The lovely Wanderlust stamp is another beauty from QUIETFIRE DESIGN. , as is the flourish and the butterfly.

TWO SHARES TODAY

 

Happy Monday Everyone! I hope your weekend was wonderful.

I played with another design that I cut out with my Silhouette cameo. Then, I had to make a little book to put it on :) I used gelli prints to cover the cereal box cardboard, for the book covers. I had a huge (way too big) sketch book that I cut down, for the inside pages. It's not finished yet, but I wanted to share it so far.

SOME SILHOUETTE SATISFACTION

Ever since I bought my Silhouette Cameo, I have wanted to draw a zentangle, then make a cutting file with it. So, last week, I did that- go me! I cut a small card-sized one in black, and a larger one in green.  The green one is for using with my gelli plate, which I've done, and it's no longer green. It's more multi-coloured now  :) That will be a post another day.

 

Today, while working on a tutorial for Saturday, I decided to use the black one.

It's a large piece to glue down, and I knew my glue pen would take 'forever' so I decided to sponge the glue onto the piece.

 

It worked perfectly. A nice even coat of glue, but not so thick it seeps under the edges.

The key is, after picking up glue with the sponge, dab it onto the acrylic block a few times to spread and smooth it out, then dab onto the cardstock.

 

I stamped and matted 'My friend', another great Quietfire Design stamp, glued it down, and DONE!

 

Loads of satisfaction with this project.

THIRTY GRAFFITI

 

Hi! Just a quick post today, sharing a card I made for my youngest son. It's going postal today.

I drew the THIRTY GRAFFITI with a black Sharpie onto white cardstock, getting the best contrast I could. Then, I sent it to my Silhouette Cameo and cut it out.

I layered it over a piece of paper that was gelli printed on. Love that gelli plate!

I partially embossed the green mat, then glued it all together.

 

My biggest problem in all this, is figuring out how my youngest child is now a 30 year old man. How the heck did that happen?! In my mind, I'M 30   :)
